CHOOSING HEATING OR EATING IS NO WAY TO LIVE
Westminster rule is making people’s lives harder as prices, inflation and bills soar.
This government of liars and corrupt lawbreakers has failed to tackle the
cost of living crisis and its effects on the poorest.
They have handed multi-billion pound Covid contracts to their cronies, while
stepping up the assault on our living standards and underfunding our services.
Their disastrous policies have seen hundreds of thousands of people
struggling to make ends meet. Now an unprecedented number of Scots face
falling below the poverty line for the first time. If anyone has any lingering doubt
whether independence is a necessity or simply a desire, they need only to look at
their rocketing energy bills.
It is a scandal that in such a wealthy society people have to make a choice
between heating or food. We cannot afford the Union.
Wealth inequality is also soaring. The richest people in Scotland have 200
times as much wealth as the poorest; poverty continues to increase under
UK rule. Independence can be an opportunity to change this, to build a
society that tackles inequality and which can act with compassion not seeking out
scapegoats to distract from their misrule.
